For years I’ve been trying to stay away from this book. I usually don’t like stories about children, but there are exceptions, like Extremely loud and incredibly close by J.S.Foer that I loved so much.
I started to get close with Haddon’s writing some months ago with The red house and then I was curious about his first novel for adult. So many people liked it so much.
So, when I visited my aunt and I found The curious incident of the dog in the night-time in her bookshelf, I took it. Finally last week I read it. No, it is not correct saying this, I ate up this book in like two days. It was great. The plot is simple: a teenage boy with an autism spectrum condition, lives some troubled days. All starts one noght when he finds his neighbour’s dog has been murdered. He wants to resolve the mistery and while he’s trying to do this he unwillingly resolves a mistery about his family.
Haddon’s writing is very good, he is able to tell the story from the kid’s point of view; his crisises, his thoughts, his fears about so many things too.
I have to say it: I’m sorry I didn’t read this book before. Fortunately, he was able to find me in the right moment.

Per anni ho cercato di stare lontana da questo libro. Di solito non mi piacciono le storie con protagonisti i bambini, ma ci sono le eccezioni, come Molto forte incredibilmente vicino di J.S.Foer, che ho amato così tanto.
Ho iniziato ad avvicinarmi alla scrittura di Haddon alcuni mesi fa con La casa rossa ed ero sempre più curiosa di leggere il suo primo libro per adulti, Lo strano caso del cane ucciso a mezzanotte. Era piaciuto a così tante persone.
Così, quando sono andata a trovare mia zia e ho trovato questo libro nella sua libreria, l’ho preso. Finalmente, l’altra settimana l’ho letto. No, non è corretto dire che io l’abbia letto, io ho divorato questo libro in due giorni. Era bellissimo.
La trama è semplice: un ragazzino affetto da una sindrome legata all’autismo vive dei giorni travagliati. Tutto comincia quando scopre che il cane dei vicino è stato ucciso. Vuole risolvere il mistero e mentre cerca di fare ciò, risolve anche un mistero che riguarda la sua famiglia.
La scrittura di Haddon è davvero ottima, è in grado di raccontare la storia dal punto di vista del ragazzino; anche le sue crisi, i suoi pensieri, le sue paure riguardo a così tante cose.
devo ammetterlo: mi dispiace di non aver letto prima questo libro. Fortunatamente, però, questo libro è stato capace di trovare me al momento giusto.
